The POD Designers Guild, the Links, Between Manufacturer, Artist and Buyer

The POD Designers Guild is a group of artists and designers who sell their work at print-on-demand (POD) sites all over the Internet.

What is print-on-demand, you ask? Ever buy something from CafePress? Zazzle? INKtastic? Skreened? Spreadshirt? Red Bubble? Society6? Those are all POD sites. What makes them unique is they will print just one of an item. It means that designers and artists can get started in their businesses without huge, humungous upfront costs for printing, products, storage, labor, etc. The POD does all that. Members of the POD Designers Guild like that.

There are two ways to purchase something from a designer who uses PODs. One is from the POD’s marketplace, or MP. There, all designs that the artist wants to place there reside on products. Tees, caps, blankets, whatever the particular product the POD offers with whatever designs the artist chooses to sell there. In the MP, you will see all the artists who use that particular POD and wish to be in that particular MP.

Shops, however are the domain of the shopkeeper, the designer and/or artist. Sometimes, products offered in the shop are not in the MP. Sometimes, vice-versa. Shops are, sometimes, more beneficial to the artist than the MP because some PODs pay less for items sold in the MP than in our shops. Costs are higher in the MP. In our shops, we must do all the marketing ourselves, so we make more. Usually, a lot more.

There were many reasons to found the POD Designers Guild. Helping you, the buyer, find our shops in the vastness of the Internet is just one of them.

Different PODs have different rules. Each designer or artist must follow those rules.

The POD Designers Guild offers its members the opportunity to post about their designs wherever they might be. A shop, and MP, etc. This particular blog and its accompanying Facebook page was developed for members to post about their holiday designs.
